NPR Music calls Laura Heaberlin and Taylor Smith of Cricket Blue “master storytellers”, and the All Scene Eye says Cricket Blue “sets a new standard for fiction-folk.” In 2019, the duo released their first full-length album, Serotinalia, to widespread praise, and were voted “Best Folk Group” in Vermont’s Seven Daysie Awards. As a response to the interruption of live music in 2020, the duo spearheaded a series of elaborately-arranged covers of songs from the Over the Garden Wall soundtrack, which have since earned a small but enthusiastic international following. Heaberlin’s songwriting has been featured on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Cricket Blue has been featured as a formal showcase artist at NERFA multiple times. They have played stages and festivals around the United States and Canada and are working on their second full-length album.

NorCal indie, avant-folk artist Gillian Grogan returns to New England on the Bloom Or Bust Tour this summer in support of the new studio single release for "Ants In The Garden" - the song that took the NPR Tiny Desk Contest by storm last year with a treehouse performance that left many in tears and was one of the few finalists featured on NPR. This 50-date, 20-state garden-themed tour features Grogan performing with local musicians across the country in various duos and trios, offering an early sneak peek of the songs and stories comprising her much-anticipated sophomore record, Honey Moon.
Grogan recently finished her second studio album at 2200 Studios (formerly The Record Plant) in Sausalito, CA with Grammy-nominated co-producer Ben Bloomberg and Grammy-nominated recording engineer Damien Lewis. Weaving together little strands of folk, indie, rock, soul and nature itself into a sonic landscape “unlike anything else you’ve heard in 'folk' music today” (Ear To The Ground), the forthcoming Honey Moon LP explores questions without answers, love without purpose, and chords without resolve. It embraces readiness without preparation, vulnerabilities without judgement, and seeks to release the present from the past. It is a collection of songs and interludes that speak to a single truth—that it is our flaws which make us most beautiful, just as it is the dust and pollution in the earth’s atmosphere which casts a warm amber hue on the moon at the horizon, as it rises, as it falls, and rises again.
Honey Moon is slated for independent release in early 2027.
